This painting is of the Ca 'd'Oro, Palace of Gold, built in the 15th Century in Venice.
Formally, the Palazzo Santa Sofia, a palace on the Grande Canal in Venice. Originally gilt and polychrome with ultramarine paint that adorned its external decorations.
The building was designed by Marino Contanini around 1421 and later restored by Baron Georgio Franchetti.
In 1927 the building was transformed into a museum and since has been known as the Galleria Georgio Franchetti , alla Ca'dOro.
